July 2006 saw the completion of a major 12 million refurbishment of this two hundred year old grade II listed building. Although retaining many of the original architectural details, all 195 of the hotel's bedrooms, many with views of Edinburgh Castle or the Firth of Forth, have been transformed and given a contemporary new look.
